You can restore wireless LAN by using System Restore to roll back Windows to a restore point dating from before the change, if one still exists. If that doesn't work then try to re-install Sniffer, which might also re-enable wireless. [That worked for me.]

Sony Vaio Wifi Driver For Windows 10 64 Bit
On my Sony Vaio w/ Atheros, after using a Bootable Linux CD, my wireless card refused to work as well. I fixed it by deleting the driver completely and reinstalling it (the official Sony one). I was able to repeat the problem and the solution - it turns out my computer has both a physical WiFi on/off switch and a 'software-based' one.

I'm not sure if 'Viao Smart Network' is the utility that allows you to turn on/off the software switch. The Wifi utility that comes with the driver, that's the one that worked for me.
If this doesn't work, you might also try reinstalling the sniffer, maybe it installed a special driver and uncleanly deleted it. It's very unlikely that it can damage anything physical.

I spent days (literally) trying to fix a similar problem with a Sony Vaio VPCCB3P1E. This included downloading Hotfixes, reinstalling the drivers, trawling for more answers, etc, etc.
Long story short, I uninstalled the Vaio Smart Network utility from the Control Panel, and everything returned to normal.
I have always been sceptical of the Vaio's own software. Surely it just adds an unnecessary additional level of complexity and is something else to go wrong? I am sorely tempted to uninstall the whole suite, to be honest.
Anyway, hope this helps anybody who's as frustrated as I've been with the lack of real help on any of the forums I managed to find.
All the best and be lucky!

My desktop is working fine through the same Netgear 1000 router. The Sony Vaio worked fine with windows 7, same router, and we have AT&T as a provider. Her Sony says the WIFI is not turned on. Actually it is, and is 10 feet away from her computer, as it has always been. I have reset the router several times according to it's directions. The front light indicates it's working, showing a lit up WIFI light.
My computer repair man had to do a complete cleanout of her computer because of all the viruses. He added Windows 10 professional, after reinstalling Windows 7, and all of updates. It would not allow windows 10 without updates to 7. I think he used a Comcast WIFI he has in his business to download everything. He added a few of his own ideas, as he does to everyone else. I have worked 3 hours trying to get it going without success. I turned off Airplane as the Sony directions say to. Could AT & T have a block that doesn't recognize this Sony computer because of the new program? Or Netgear have a block for that matter ?? The online AT & T self help is virtually worthless, as It goes round and round, and doesn't seem to want to deal with WIFI Than you in advance for your help. Repeating : Our AT & T account has been around since 2000, with DSL, and the Netgear 1000 has been here for 5 years at least. Comments are closed.
